  I typically do at least one painting every year of my interpretation of ‘Calaveras’ during the Day of the Dead celebration in November. Sometimes, I do them to honor loved ones I’ve lost recently and sometimes to remember that this is part of life. In Tucson, where I lived for over 20 years, Dia de Los Muertos is a huge celebration with colorful flowers, traditional baked goods, and an ‘All Soul’s Procession that winds through the city in the evening.
